Does Honda have an electric car in its current lineup? At the present time, the brand’s only all-electric model is a subcompact car sold in Japan and Europe, the Honda e. However, that’s soon to change. Honda recently laid out its plans to enter the electric car market with 30 small, affordable electric SUVs by 2030, including several high-performance “sport” models. • Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid – Runs on a 181-hp electric motor paired with a 17.0-kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
• Honda Clarity Fuel Cell – The hydrogen fuel cell version of the Clarity uses a 174-hp electric motor that draws electricity from a fuel cell.

The Honda e Electric Car

As we mentioned above, Honda does have an electric car right now—just not one that’s available in the U.S. Appleton and Manitowoc drives will have to wait a few years for the upcoming electric Honda models, but the Honda e provides some exciting signs of what’s to come!

This subcompact car is perfect for commuters in crowded urban areas, with fast-charge capability, a high-capacity 35.5 kWh battery, and a unique thermal management system that optimizes battery range in high and low temperatures.

What’s Next?

Honda and GM are set to partner on a new generation of affordable electric EVs starting in 2027. These smaller models will use the next generation of Ultium battery cells and will come at a lower price that’s much more accessible than the electric vehicles available today. The first of the bunch will be the 2024 Honda Prologue, a fully electric SUV designed to deliver everyday versatility, power, and range that’s equal to that of current Honda gas-powered SUVs.
